I started my gymnastics career at age three and this early introduction to the gym provided the core foundation I set for myself as an athlete and as a coach. Fitness has always been a part of my life, but once I was introduced to CrossFit, my mental and physical well-being positively changed.   I want to share the knowledge and empowering experience CrossFit has to offer while teaching my classes. My true passion is to help people reach above and beyond their dreams in all aspects of their lives. I started CrossFit in May 2010, and participated in my first CrossFit competition in January, 2011. While I love competing, coaching is where I feel the most gratification on a daily basis. I want to encourage people of all ages and of ALL fitness levels each and every day. Coaching is my true passion, and I'm so blessed I get to do what I love.  I am also a  mother of three, hoping to set a good example of the importance fitness has on our mind and body!

I have played many sports at very competitive levels throughout my life.  When it came time for college, I elected to pursue an education rather than collegiate athletics.  To feed the thirst for competition I began a new route through weight lifting and running during my sophomore year.  Shortly after I began this new routine, my brother started doing CrossFit and literally would not stop talking about it.  Finally, I gave in and found that there was a Box right here in Athens.  I began CrossFit in 2012 and my first workout was "FRAN.”  Needless to say, I was severely mistaken in my workout capacity, as I was beaten by a guy twice my age (HUGE EGO CHECK).  Instantly, I was hooked and couldn't get enough of it.  After a few weeks of training, Jolene asked me if I would be interested in getting my [Level 1] certification, and I jumped at the opportunity.  Since I began coaching, I have focused intensely on mechanics and technique.  I particularly enjoy working with people on Olympic lifting and improving body awareness.  I love CrossFit and its teachings.  It has changed my life forever, especially because it's where I met Jolene.

I have played sports my entire life and that included dancing for 15 years.  Once I got to college, I found myself missing that passion I had for dance and tried to replace it with working out.  I was introduced to CrossFit in the fall of 2014 and I was hooked.  The people, the environment and the overall community was the biggest draw because I felt at home whenever I stepped into a gym.  Almost three years later, my passion continues to grow for the CrossFit community.  I am very excited to have been given this opportunity to coach so I can help athletes achieve all of their goals while having fun doing it!

Sports and exercise have played a big role in my life growing up.  The coaching bug hit me hard, and I ended up coaching Volleyball at the high school level for 16 years. My personal health and fitness has always been a priority of mine and has led me to try many different outlets for my competitive nature.  As a physical education teacher at Alexander Local Schools, I try to be a positive role model for my students and inspire them to pursue health and fitness. In Winter of 2015, I was introduced to the CrossFit methodology and was hooked. After walking into SEO in June of 2017 I knew I had found something special and a place to call home. The coaches and community helped inspire me to pursue my L-1 coaching certification. I truly enjoy coaching and being a part of our members health and fitness journey.

In 2014, I found CrossFit in my home town of Celina, Ohio and did a beginners class to learn what it was all about!  I then went off to college at Ohio University and explored the Rec Center and tried CrossFit type workouts on my own for the few years.  I found myself missing the community aspect that I had in the sports i did year round throughout my life.  I started competitive swimming around at the age of 6 and volleyball and track in middle school and they all stopped before i left for college which was  big change for me!  A friend and I found CrossFit SEO here in Athens in 2017 and I have been going ever since.  I could not be happier that I found such a great community to be a part of!  Out of the gym I am a Kindergarten teacher and I am beyond excited I now get the opportunity to coach amazing athletes and help people work towards their health and fitness goals.

started coming to SEO a few years back when a friend of mine kept talking about how much they loved CrossFit (like, seriously, wouldn’t stop talking about it). I tried a class and couldn’t wait to come back, there was so much variety in the workouts I never knew what to expect. The gym has taught me a lot of lessons; how to fail, how to push myself and others, and how to keep going when I want to stop. I love the community aspect of CrossFit, there’s nothing like suffering through workouts together and having this one thing in common. I’m so thankful Jolene gave me the opportunity to coach, it’s the perfect mix of sharing a sport I love and helping everyone feel capable of being an athlete.

CrossFit SEO is a place that I have been calling home since 2016. I was introduced to CrossFit through my mom, who began a few years before I did while in search for a community practicing functional fitness. Growing up I was surrounded by soccer, track, and many other sports, always craving competition and community. This gym is exactly where I found those things. It is the most encouraging, fun, supportive environment that I have ever experienced. CFSEO is also the environment where I have witnessed the most growth from athletes of all backgrounds. I am currently a Pre-PT student at Ohio University studying Exercise Physiology and minoring in Coaching Education. I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this extraordinary SEO family and I’m so excited to continue learning as an athlete and coach.

I started CrossFit in 2017 as a mother of two looking for a way to stay active. What I found was so much more than physical activity!

CrossFit has taught me how to be patient, push myself beyond what is comfortable, master new skills, believe in myself, and most of all, enjoy a community of like-minded people all striving to be better – better humans and better athletes.

There is truly nothing like the CrossFit community.  As a coach, my mission is to continue learning the sport, and encourage others to believe in themselves and their athletic ability.

Although I had done some CrossFit WODs before, I started group classes at SEO in 2012 after my 2nd child was born. I am so glad a friend talked me into stepping through the door of CrossFit SEO because it has been an incredible part of my life over the last decade. A common quote in CrossFit is, "Come for the workout. Stay for the community" and this 100% true for me. No matter what your age, ability level, or physical condition- everyone is welcome and we are all in it together.

I spent my youth and college years as an elite-level platform and springboard diver and have coached a variety of sports over the years. There is nothing more fulfilling in life (outside of family) than seeing people accomplish their goals, no matter what they are. I look forward to being a small part of the health and wellness journey of SEO members and hope to see you in class!
